Viewing by month: December 2010
From Morris To The World
Morris Rotary will endorse two local teens as outbound exchange students for the next academic year. Following this autumn’s interviews, Mitchell John Felker was selected to go to the Brisbane area of Australia. Katherine “Cassie” Schwarzhans will go to Taiwan. Both are currently enrolled at Morris Central School.
Holiday Greetings!
The Community Tree in front of Morris Central School is provided every year by members of the Morris Rotary Club. The new LED lights were a gift from Rotarian Matthew Sheldon.
Holiday Food Deliveries
On Saturday,
December 18, 2010, members of the Morris Rotary Club assembled and delivered over
80 food boxes for needy families in the Butternut Valley. Each box contained enough food to prepare a
traditional holiday meal and varied in size to match the family size. Several community
agencies helped to develop the list of recipients. Cash donations came
from numerous individuals to help support the project. The Naylor Company allowed use of their facility to stage the project.
At the same
time, another 80 fruit boxes were prepared to remember the area’s senior
citizens. The gift boxes were decorated and packed by assorted youth
groups. Several students, like Abby Schwarzhans and Chase Miller, helped to pack the boxes.
