“The Future of Rotary” could have been the title of Morris Rotary’s program on November 22, 2010. Past District Governor Lana Rouff and Marc Miranda told of an experiment being conducted by District 7170. To attract younger community leaders to Rotary, a “Gen-Y Rotary Club” is being formed with the blessing of the district. The future Rotarians from around the Southern Tier have a commitment to Rotary service but cannot spend an hour and a half for each weekly meeting. They will hold occasional face-to-face meetings but most of their activities will be planned via Facebook, the digit social network to which the Gen-Ys have become accustomed. PDG Lana is guiding the group, now approaching the 20 members necessary before applying for their charter. She expects the new club to be chartered soon, possibly as the first such club in the eastern United States. There are already several e-clubs in the western USA.

Hon. Brian D. Burns (Otsego County Court , Family Court, and Surrogate Judge) updated Morris Rotarians on recent changes facing county residents. Substance abuse continues to be a major problem and criminals know the loopholes that let them continue to circulvent the law's intent. Following his remarks, he discussed matters with individual club members.
