Happy Birthday, Rotarian Jim!

     80 Glorious Years!

The Morris Rotary Club honored its oldest active member with a special birthday recognition recently.  Jim Pasternak, who joined Rotary in 1966, celebrated his 80th birthday on July 4, 2012.

Pasternak, who retired from the financial department of the State University College at Oneonta in 1992 after 30 years of service, is widely known for his community service.  He served on the board of Habitat for Humanity in Otsego County for many years.  He also made seven annual trips to Honduras to work on various humanitarian projects.

Jim and wife Kay now spend their winters in Zephyrhills, FL.  He still attends Rotary regularly in both New York and Florida.  Daughter Carolyn (pictured with her happy dad) is also a Morris Rotarian.  Carolyn Pasternak will serve as club president in 2014-2015.

Spring Highway Clean-Up

Members of the Morris Rotary Club collected litter along sections of NYS Highway 23 east of Morris and Route 51 north of the village in the club's annual spring clean-up.  The Adopt-A-Highway program has been a Morris Rotary tradition for the last quarter-century. The Honor Society at Morris Central School patrols the other two entrances to the village. This year's session was conducted in appreciation of the efforts of long-time volunteers Ron Hay, Rev. Norman Tiffany, and Fred Johnson who have now turned the duties over to younger Rotarians.
