Books To Burma

Morris Rotarians joined with other Southern Tier Rotarians to fund the shipment of over 80 boxes of reading books to children at a school in rural Burma. The books were scheduled to be discarded by an area elementary school.  Now the books will get new life in the hands of 372 students in grades 1-9 in their idyllic town in central Burma.  The youngsters live on the broad Bagan Plain near the Irrawaddy River, best known for its picturesque temples and pagodas dating back to the 9th century.  The students receive daily instruction in the English language so the books are an important asset.
