Historic Gavel Comes Home

The gavel used during the early years of the Morris Rotary Club has been returned to the club's archives. The gavel, made of local Butternut wood, was used by the club's first president J. L. Miller from 1938-1940. The gavel then was retired in favor of one that was lighter in weight.  Upon Mr. Miller's passing, his family presented the gavel to Ronald Hay, one of the Morris club's senior members.  Mr. Hay displayed the gavel and told its history at a recent club meeting.
